The equestrian world has always had a strong correlation with the fashion world and for this reason many brand born as specialized brands in the equestrian sector have evolved creating garments and accessories for the trendy public.

In the collective riding it is seen as one of those sports belonging to an upper middle class, since the tradition of London and perhaps for this reason that the sponsors of the equestrian world are trademarks of haute couture or jewelery.
Horse and Fashion But let’s get specific and look at the history of the major brands that were born as shops and small companies before becoming equestrian brands internationally haute couture.
First of all Hermès

Hermes his story: The transformation from shop to Rue Saint Honoré

The history of fashion house Hermès was born in 1832, when Thierry Hermès decided to open his small shop in Paris, created and sold saddles and harnesses for horses.
At his death his heirs decided to move the little shop on the Rue Saint-Honore, where today stands the historic boutique of the brand.
Later in 1920, the grandson of Thierry Hermès decided to buy the shares of his brother and to expand the brand by introducing a collection of clothing leather Daino, then sect years after introducing a line of jewelry inspired by the equestrian world.
But the rise of the brand takes place in 1953 when the famous Grace Kelly was photographed on Life Magazine wearing the Hermes bag that after that photo was renamed Kelly, one of the bags that is still an icon in the fashion and desired from all the fashionistas of the sector.
Even today Hermès is in the capable hands of his grandchildren, now in its fifth generation, the brand seems to have lost its allure and charm that make it unbeatable in the field of  horse riding and in that fashion.
Among his most famous models Birkin bag and the Kelly.

Gucci and his Horses

Unlike Hermès that began as a brand of riding and then expanded in high fashion, Gucci does the opposite, the founder Guccio Gucci began his business by opening a number of stores of Rome, the products are small leather goods and some accessories Equestrian , it was only after time that Gucci decided to use the harness equestrian as a symbol of the fashion house.
Personally I was very disappointed by how the Gucci brand did not have a real relationship with the brand equestrian, among others in 1994 a lawsuit was filed by a New York court against Paolo Gucci for mistreatment of his horses, his answer did not want comment because I risk losing my savoir faire, but found easily on the Internet.
Having said this we can conclude that for the passion for horses was just a matter of marketing, because any horse lover would leave 100 Arabian horses left on their own …

Il mondo equestre ha sempre avuto una forte correlazione con il mondo della moda e per questa ragione molti brand nati come marchi specializzati nel settore equestre si sono evoluti creando accessori e capi per il pubblico modaiolo.
Nell’immaginario comune l’equitazione è vista come uno di quegli sport appartenenti ad un ceto medio alto, fin dalla tradizione londinese e forse per questo motivo che gli sponsor del mondo equestre sono marchi da alta moda o di gioielleria.
Ma entriamo nello specifico e analizziamo la storia dei più importanti marchi che sono nati come botteghe e piccole aziende del settore equestre per poi divenire dei marchi a livello internazionale dell’haute couture.
Primo fra tutti Hermès

Hèrmès la sua storia: La trasformazione da bottega a Rue Saint Honorè

La storia della maison Hermès nasce nel 1832, quando Thierry Hermès decise di aprire la sua piccola bottega a Parigi, creava e vendeva finimenti per i cavalli e selle.
Alla sua morte i suoi eredi decisero di spostare la piccola bottega in Rue Saint-Honorè dove ancora oggi sorge la storica boutique del marchio.
Successivamente nel 1920, la nipote di Thierry Hermès decise di acquistare le quote del fratello e di ampliare il marchio introducendo una collezione di capi d’abbigliamento in pelle di Daino, per poi setta anni dopo introdurre una line di gioielli ispirata al mondo equestre.
Ma l’ascesa del marchio avviene nel 1953 quando la celebre Grace Kelly viene fotografata sulla copertina di Life con indosso la borsa di Hermès che dopo quella foto fu ribattezzata Kelly, una delle borse che ancora oggi è un’icona nell’ambito moda e desiderata da tutte le fashioniste del settore.
Ancora oggi la maison Hermès è nelle abili mani dei suoi nipoti, ormai alla quinta generazione il marchio sembra non aver perso il suo allure e il suo charme che lo rendono imbattibile sia nel campo dell’equitazione sia in quello moda.
Tra i suoi modelli più celebri la Birkin e la Kelly.

Gucci e i suoi Cavalli

A differenza di Hermès che nasce come marchio d’equitazione per poi espandersi nell’alta moda, Gucci fa il contrario, il fondatore Guccio Gucci comincia la sua attività aprendo una serie di negozi su Roma, i prodotti sono la piccola pelletteria e qualche accessorio equestre, fu solo dopo tempo che Gucci decise di utilizzare i finimenti equestri come simbolo della maison.
Personalmente sono rimasta molto delusa da come il marchio Gucci non avesse una vera e propria correlazione con il marchio equestre, tra l’altro nel 1994 fu intentata una causa dal tribunale Newyorkese contro Paolo Gucci per maltrattamento dei suoi Cavalli, la sua risposta non la voglio commentare perchè rischierei di perdere il mio savoir faire, ma la trovate facilmente su Internet.
Detto ciò possiamo concludere che per Gucci la passione per i cavalli è stata solo una questione di marketing, perchè nessun amante dei cavalli lascerebbe 100 purosangue arabi abbandonati a loro stessi…
