The impetuosity of Horses when the temperature drops
The Impetuosity of the horse.
January is the “dreaded” period for young riders, because they already know that when temperatures drop our horses become more impulsive and restless.
The cold puts them in a good mood and their character tends to manifest itself much more in this period.
This impetuosity fortunately does not last all winter but only for the first few days where the temperature drops drastically, still, we can’t generalize because each horse is different and reacts just as differently.
There are horses that do not even perceive the change and remain the same regardless of the temperature.
If your horse is particularly impetuous in these days you can try to make him go to the rope before you get on it, so to tire him just a little bit.

Impetuosity of the Horse: The Approach to take
The horse is an empathetic animal, so when we approach him we must have a calm and relaxed attitude.
The horses perceives the tension whether you’re riding or in the ground.
If your horse is impetuous because of the extreme temperatures and you climb onto the saddle nervously unfortunately your horse will sense it.
It also happens to get “agitated” on the saddle and the horse obviously sensing my tension behaves accordingly, the advice I can give you is to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the ride.
Care of the Horse in Winter
In nature horses are accustomed to the cold and low temperatures, but the tamed horses are different, and they may get sick, so you have to take care and make sure they are not exposed to excessive fluctuations in temperature.
For example after work is a good idea to cover them with blankets to get them back to the optimum temperature, make them walk to get them back in the breath.
